Eine Kraniosynostose wird im Wesentlichen klinisch erkannt. Zur Unterstützung der Diagnose werden von Kinderärzten regelmäßig anthropometrische Daten erhoben. Eine neurochirurgische Arbeitsgruppe aus Brasilien hat sich kürzlich mit der Wertigkeit der Kopfumfangsmessung beschäftigt und eine Empfehlung formuliert.
