Angesichts der Häufigkeit des Auftretens einer funktionellen chronischen Obstipation bei Kindern und der oft monatelangen Therapienotwendigkeit wünscht man sich bisweilen Alternativen zu den üblicherweise verwendeten Stuhlweichmachern (vor allem wird Macrogol eingesetzt). Geprüft wurde der Wirkstoff Prucaloprid.
