A Zn(II)–organic framework: fluorescent turn-on detection of Al3+, treatment and nursing application on glioma by inducing the cancer cell death

Abstract

In the current study, a novel Zn(II)-MOF with the chemical formula of {[Zn2(TPTA)(1,4-bib) (H2O)4]·2CH3OH}n (1) has been synthesized by solvothermal reaction of Zn(NO3)2·6H2O, 1,4-bis(1-imidazoly) benzene (1,4-bib) and 2′- amino-[1,1′,4′,1"- terphenyl]-3,3",5,5"-tetracarboxylic acid (H4TPTA), and its chemical formula is {[Zn(TPTA)0.5(1,4-bib)0.5(H2O)2]·CH3OH}n (1). Noticeably, complex 1 has been proved to be useful for fluorescent detection of Al3+ based on a fluorescent turn-on performance. Using the microcrystalline samples of 1, the very low limits of detection (LODs) for the Al3+ ion can be up to 30 nM. The bioactivity of the compound to glioma was assessed, and the relevant mechanism was discussed. In addition to experimental findings, results provided by the molecular docking showed that both functional groups exhibited interactions with protein.
