Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a fuzzy logic-based mobile application to decrease accidents mortality rate because of the accidents. In some cases, drivers may not be able to estimate convenient speed while getting closer to the bends. The proposed intelligent system will warn the drivers about their speed according to the slope of the bends; thus, the drivers will be able to decide whether to decrease or increase the speed before the bend. By this way, driver will be able to decide whether he should increase or decrease his speed before meeting the bend. The proposed system is implemented in real field for different types of routes, and the performance of the system is measured and compared with classical approach. Simulation results show that safe driving applications can contribute to driving support systems considerably. With the vehicle-independent driving support system built with smartphones, safe driving will be used in many different types of vehicles.
