Abstract
The Indian skipper frog, Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis (Schneider, 1799), is a common frog found in West Bengal. A total of six frogs (E. cyanophlyctis) were collected and examined for nematode infection from Raniganj town of Asansol coal-field area, West Bengal. Six male and 11 female nematodes were recovered from the rectum of two out of six, E. cyanophlyctis. On examination the recovered nematodes were found to be, Aplectana macintoshii (Stewart in Rec Indian Mus 10:165–193, 1914) Travassos, 1931. Aplectana macintoshii is reported for the first time from Asansol coal-field area. This species can be identified by the presence of lanceolate shaped gubernaculum, one pair of similar and equal spicules and seven pairs of postanal caudal papillae, all are ventral in position and a single papilla on the tail tip. This communication intends to record Asansol industrial area as a new geographical area for the parasite A. macintoshii.
