Huidafwijkingen komen veel voor bij patiënten met diabetes, naar schatting bij zo’n 30 tot 50 procent. Dermatoloog Johan Toonstra beschrijft in een tweeluik om welke huidafwijkingen het gaat. In dit eerste deel behandelt hij zowel diabetische angiopathie en neuropathie als huidinfecties bij diabetes. In het volgende nummer komen in deel twee aan bod: complicaties van de behandeling en overige huidaandoeningen.
