Samenvatting

Duimbasisartrose, ook wel carpometacarpale-I-artrose of huisvrouwenduim genoemd, komt veel voor, voornamelijk bij vrouwen na de menopauze. Een patiënt heeft vaak pijn bij de duimbasis, in combinatie met verlies van kracht en functie. De conservatieve behandeling bestaat uit pijnstilling, intra-articulaire injectie, adviezen, oefentherapie en/of spalktherapie bij de handtherapeut. Bij onvoldoende effect zijn er verschillende chirurgische mogelijkheden.
