Samenvatting
Nederlandse ouderen zijn de afgelopen decennia meer alcohol gaan gebruiken. Een kleine groep drinkt daarbij overmatig. Overmatig gebruik van alcohol kan tot medische problemen leiden die niet altijd als zodanig worden herkend.
Er zijn effectieve interventies binnen de eerste lijn bij overmatig alcoholgebruik en bij de lichte DSM-5-stoornis in het gebruik van alcohol (SGA).
Deze interventies zijn er op gericht via motiverende gespreksvoering (MGV) de leefstijl te veranderen in de richting van gezonder gedrag.
Bij de ernstiger SGA, vaak met neiging tot recidief in combinatie met somatische en/of psychiatrische stoornissen, is verwijzing naar de tweede lijn een goede keuze.
