De uitdaging: vroege herkenning van huidkanker

Samenvatting

Afgelopen decennium is duidelijk geworden dat huidkanker in Nederland epidemische vormen heeft aangenomen. Een zeer groot deel van onze bevolking zal tijdens het leven te maken krijgen met enige vorm van huidkanker. Vroege diagnostiek en behandeling zijn cruciaal voor het in de hand houden van de ziektegerelateerde morbiditeit en kosten. Hierbij is een grote rol weggelegd voor u als huisarts. De variatie in klinische presentatie van de verschillende huidmaligniteiten is groot en maakt adequaat differentiëren en verwijzen tot een uitdaging. In dit artikel zetten we de klinische aspecten van de verschillende huidmaligniteiten (in situ) op een rij en geven handvatten voor een gedegen dermatologisch onderzoek. Daarnaast bespreken we de mogelijkheden tot aanvullend onderzoek, zoals het gebruik van de dermatoscoop en de indicatie voor een diagnostisch biopt.
