Abstract

This article gives an overview about current treatment concepts in head and neck oncology, especially concerning adjuvant treatment modalities. In this context, we discuss current study results in radiation and chemotherapy and their importance for surgical procedures. Additionally, we present new treatment concepts and their clinical relevance. Finally, frequent complications of modern treatment concepts are described. The goal is to familiarize the readers with the complexity of this disease and enable them to manage their patients in an optimal, individual and interdisciplinary treatment concept according to the latest scientific results.
