Abstract

We compared the efficiency of ten selected DNA extraction procedures for microbes published in recent literature using four different environmental samples. The suitability was assessed based on DNA yield, visual quality, as well as PCR applicability. Four out of ten extraction procedures were found applicable to all tested environmental samples. All tested procedures were cheaper compared to commercial DNA extraction kits.
