Zusammenfassung
Die subgingivale Instrumentierung (SRP) stellt die kausale Infektions- und Entzündungsbekämpfung zur Therapie der Parodontitis dar und gilt als Goldstandard. Eine Vielzahl von Ansätzen dient dazu, die Ergebnisse der subgingivalen Instrumentierung weiter zu verbessern, so auch die adjuvante Gabe von Probiotika. Es gibt jedoch relativ wenige Studien zu diesem Thema, deren Ergebnisse bei geringen Fallzahlen relativ heterogen sind. Darüber hinaus sollte ein Biasrisiko beachtet werden. Als Probiotikum kommen v. a. Lactobacillus und Bifidobakterien in Betracht, die zusätzlich zum SRP u. a. Verbesserungen bei Sondierungstiefe, Attachmentlevel und Bluten auf Sondieren zur Folge hatten. In einer Übersichtsarbeit werden die durch eine adjuvante Probiotikagabe erzielten klinischen Verbesserungen auf dem Niveau der adjuvanten systemischen Antibiotikagabe gesehen. Die Probiotikagabe scheint auch eine durch Antibiotikagabe verursachte Diarrhö positiv zu beeinflussen.
