Abstract

Minimally invasive foot surgery is performed through the smallest possible incisions by using specialised instruments to reduce the risk of iatrogenic damage. Physiological bleeding should not be stopped during this particular surgery but rather helped, in order to prevent hypothermia induced by high-speed burrs, also used in dental surgery, which reach 10,000 rpm.

Beaver blades, Metzenbaum scissors and straight or angled rasps are some of the most common instruments used during MIS, performed under radiological guidance.
