Zusammenfassung

Social Networking Seiten (SNS) sind Internetplattformen, die es den NutzerInnen ermöglichen, Kontakte herzustellen und aufrechtzuerhalten und Features enthalten wie Kontaktlisten, Webmail, Upload von Fotos und Videos, Gästebücher, Forumsdiskussionen, Fan- und Hobbygruppen, Blogs, usw. Beispiele für SNS sind: Facebook, MySpace, studiVZ, SchülerVZ, MeinVZ, LinkedIn, Xing, Orkut, Lokalisten, Classmates, StayFriends, Vkontakte, Wer-kennt-wen, Mixi, Netlog, Hyves, Bebo oder Friendster. Finanziert werden viele SNS durch personalisierte Werbung. Dazu ist eine Speicherung und Auswertung persönlicher Daten und des Nutzungsverhaltens der User notwendig. Dies hat Implikationen für Privatsphäre und Datenschutz.
