Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
Digital media and apps in particular offer a variety of interactive possibilities and, in combination with playful elements, seem at first glance to be very suitable for reaching media- and smartphone-affine target groups, to stimulate discussion of health-related topics, and to promote health-promoting behaviors.
Objectives
This article takes a look at health apps addressed to children and adolescents and highlights the potential and limitations of this format for prevention and health promotion.
Results
Health apps offer a variety of opportunities for prevention and health promotion, but their potential is not fully been met yet. Serious and recommendable apps are difficult to find.
Conclusions
The further development of quality standards and the provision of orientation services could make it easier for young users to find and select reputable health apps. Additionally, adolescents should be enabled to assess health-related programs and to reflect its value for their lives.
