Abstract
A 62-year-old patient with ankylosing spondylitis presented with dysphagia. Endoscopically a screw was revealed which had penetrated the esophagus after cervical fixation. As in the case described here, this rare but potentially life-threatening complication is usually treated in an interdisciplinary manner by gastroenterologists and visceral, trauma and plastic surgeons.
