Unusual shape formation in aerosol powder particles

With electron microscope study of powder of the composition ZrO2+ 3 mol.% Y2O3, prepared by spray pyrolysis from solution, containing exothermic reaction initiators, a particle configuration not previously detected is observed, i.e., a thin-walled shell filled with fine spherical particles. Possible mechanisms are discussed for formation of these anomalous configurations.
