The antibacterial activity of hemolymph fractions isolated from Galleria mellonella larvae has been studied. Protein fractions possessing antibacterial activity were obtained using ion-exchange chromatography and gel electrophoresis techniques. MALDI-TOF mass-spectrometric analysis of these fractions showed the presence of a peptide with molecular mass 5627 Da that probably accounts for the antibacterial activity of the hemolymph. The obtained data confirm the expediency of using G. mellonella larvae hemolymph preparations (including homeopathic drugs) in medicine.
