Asymptotic Analysis for Dispersion-managed Solitons in Birefringent Fibers

Abstract

The higher order multiple-scale asymptotic analysis is carried out for the vector nonlinear Schrödinger’s equation that governs the propagation of solitons through a birefringent optical fiber. The averaged equation, with the inclusion of higher order terms, significantly improves the description of the soliton characteristics in a birefringent fiber.
