To the Editor,

I read with interest the article “Information needs and requirements in patients with brain tumours and their relatives” by Reinert et al. [1] in this journal. I congratulate the authors for their work and results. However, it should not be unmentioned that a study about the strategies of information acquisition in these patients and relatives has already been published by Schröter et al. [2].

Their survey contained the answers of 129 patients suffering from brain tumours and 140 relatives and peers. It dealt with clinical data, information sources, educational level, expectations and success of these efforts.

Reinert’s study provides focused actual information and is helpful for caring for brain tumour patients. Maybe the paper would have benefited by discussing Schröter’s results.
