Structure and mechanical properties of rapidly quenched Al – 5% Mg alloy after heat treatment

The effect of annealing temperature in the range of 150 – 250°C on the structure, hardness, and tensile properties of alloy Al – 5 wt.% Mg rapidly quenched from 500°C is studied. It is shown that the Vickers hardness and the rupture strength increase upon growth in the annealing temperature while the ductility decreases.
