The effect of the rate of crystallization in the initiation of the liquid–solid inner interface on the results of a measurement of the solidification temperature of the ITS-90 fixed points is investigated. It is shown that a redistribution of the impurity at a different rate of crystallization may lead to a considerable deviation of the measured solidification temperature from the liquidus temperature.
