An adaptive method of identifying irregularities in wire communication channels

A method of identifying irregularities in wire cable digital communications channels, intended for use in reflectometers, is considered. A mathematical basis for the method is provided and estimates of the computational resources required to realize it in practice are given. Ways of reducing the computational complexity are pointed out.
