Patrick Stevenson is Professor of German and Linguistic Studies at the University of Southampton, UK. His research interests include German sociolinguistics, the politics of language, and multilingualism. He is currently directing a 4-year research project funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council on language, migration and citizenship in Germany and Austria and on linguistic policies and practices in central Europe. With Clare Mar-Molinero, he is also co-ordinator of a cross-national initiative on language and citizenship in Europe and a partner in a new EU Network of Excellence on linguistic variation in Europe.

Clare Mar-Molinero is Head of Modern Languages at the University of Southampton and was the founding Director of its Centre for Transnational Studies. Her research interests include language and globalisation, the politics of language, language policies, and multilingualism, with a particular focus on the Spanish-speaking world, and especially US Latinos.
