I. M. Laversuch is a sociolinguist and a lecturer at the University of Cologne, Germany. Her most recent book, published in 2005, explores the history of ethnoracial terminology used by the U.S. Census to label American residents with African heritage. Her current book deals with the intersection between cultural identity and multiple language acquisition.
