Synthesis of ultra fine transition metals in immobilised microreactors

The possibility obtaining ultra fine metals in molecular microreactors (cavities of immobilized calixarenes, polyelectrolytes) when reducing metal complexes in a polymeric matrix has been demonstrated. Commercial ion exchange resins and network polymers with immobilized cis-calixarenes were used as polymeric microreactors. Tetra-ammine complexes of transition metals Pd, Cu, Ni were introduced in cation exchange resins by ion exchange. According to X-ray powder diffraction data, reduction of transition metal complexes in the polymeric matrix givesmetallic particles of 20–100 nm size.
