Abstract
The seismic event with an energy of about 1.4·105 J, occurred at the Oktyabrsky Mine at the Talnakh-Oktyabrsky polymetal deposit on August 21, 2005 is described. This event was the largest among those recorded by Norilsk seismic station for the whole observation period since 1993. It is shown that the ratio of V E and V K , one being the velocity of the reduced center of the seismic energy emission, the other being the velocity of the migration of separate seismic events until they make up a sequence ordered relative to their manifestation time for a zone of higher stress concentration within a mine field may serve as a criterion of the observed rock mass transition to the critical state.
