Book Review

While the primary purpose of most texts on human values and agriculture stress the importance of examining agricultural performance with regard to food security, environmental equity, and ecological capacities, Franck L.B. Meijboom in his book Problems of Trust: A Question of Trustworthiness turns the equation around and asks of the agricultural and food sector to reveal to us as readers a more nuanced meaning of our capacities as humans to create an ethical world. Meijboom, a Dutch researcher, studies food and animal ethics at Utrecht University. He is currently secretary of the European Society for Agricultural and Food Ethics (EurSafe). The two hundred page volume is divided into seven chapters and accompanied with a thorough bibliography.
