A Polarizable Pressure Gage Based on Optical Fibers

A highly sensitive polarizable pressure gage, based on the effect of birefringence in single-mode optical fibers wound on ribbed frames, is described. The measured sensitivity of the gage is 13 × 10−2 dB/Pa m.
