Achieving Transparent Photonic Band in Regular One-Dimensional Photonic Crystal

Abstract

A transparent photonic band can be found in a regular one-dimensional photonic crystal structure through proper conditions. Unlike a conventional pass band with a rapid oscillation within it, the transparent photonic band has a flattop transparent spectrum that is almost immune from the rapid oscillation and independent of the number of periods of the structure. The detailed analysis of Bloch wave vector and the field distribution corresponding to the transparent band are also given.
