Theoretical investigation of the heating of liquid in straight channels owing to viscous dissipation

A theoretical investigation is performed of the heating of liquid owing to viscous dissipation under conditions of laminar flow in straight channels with heat-insulated walls. Some general relations are derived, and particular cases of flow in a flat channel and round pipe are treated.
