Efficiency of Retransmission in Sensor Networks

Computational Mathematics and Modeling Aims and scope Submit manuscript

We consider a wireless sensor network (WSN) intended for periodic collection of data from sensors. Loss of messages is allowed. A protocol with retransmission of messages is proposed to minimize the loss of individual sensor readings. The protocol has been tested on a benchtop WSN constructed using Arduino Nano microcontroller boards and NRF24L01 transceivers. Natural experiments have shown that the proposed protocol indeed ensures a low frequency of lost messages in the collected data.
