Synthesis of pyrazole and tetrazole derivatives of 9,10-anthraquinonylhydrazones

9,10-Anthraquinonylhydrazones containing nitrile, acyl, and ethoxycarbonyl groups reacted with hydrazine hydrate upon refluxing in dioxane or with sodium azide upon heating in DMF, giving the corresponding pyrazole and tetrazole derivatives.
