A preparative method was developed for the synthesis of 3-(2-bromoacetyl)-1H-isochromen-1-one. Its heterocyclization to 3-(2-R-thiazol-4-yl)-, (3-quinoxalin-2-yl)-, and 3-(imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-2-yl)-1H-isochromen-1-ones was studied.
