Characteristics of effective industrial packings for evaporative cooling of circulating water in cooling towers

Results are presented for comparative tests of the aerothermal characteristics of basic types of regular packings on a test bench developed by the Vedeneev All-Russia Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering. These packings are widely used in draft sections and similar cooling towers employed in the chemical and other branches of industry. It is demonstrated that the drop-film type of packing is most effective.
