It is our pleasure to announce the Primate Social Impact Award 2017. The high social impact paper is selected by the Editor-in-Chief, Vice Editor-in-Chief, and Associate Editor in charge of Public Relations, based on data sources such as the Altmetric score (mentions in the media and social networking sites) and full-text downloads.
The Primates Social Impact Award 2017 goes to the following two papers:
Marie Pelé, Alexandre Bonnefoy, Masaki Shimada, Cédric Sueur: Interspecies sexual behaviour between a male Japanese macaque and female sika deer (Pelé et al. 2017).
Fumito Kawakami, Masaki Tomonaga, Juri Suzuki
The first smile: spontaneous smiles in newborn Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) (Kawakami et al. 2017).
Both papers got a lot of media attention, were frequently mentioned in social networks, and highly downloaded. Their work thus contributed greatly to enhancing the reputation of our journal.
Please join us in congratulating them.
Tetsuro Matsuzawa
Executive Director, Japan Monkey Centre;
Editor-in-Chief, Primates
