Ecosystems and its editorial staff are required to follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and consequently are obliged to notify the readership about an authorship dispute concerning this article.

Specifically, Dr. Lara A. Arroyo, whose name is in the acknowledgments of this article, and Dr. Rubén G. Mateo claim that they were not informed about the decision of publishing their work and that they should be in the list of authors.

Drs. Lara A. Arroyo and Rubén G. Mateo have presented formal complaints to the editorial offices and the publisher of Ecosystems and to the University of Castilla-La Mancha. The publisher asked the ethical committee of the University of Castilla-La Mancha to resolve this dispute, but unfortunately so far there has not been a formal answer from the University of Castilla-La Mancha. The publisher and editorial office of Ecosystems are not in a position to resolve this disagreement, but feel impelled to notify the readers about the status quo.
