Zusammenfassung

Die Diagnostik und Behandlung von ADHS bei Erwachsenen ist ein noch relativ neues Gebiet in der Erwachsenenpsychiatrie. Der Artikel ruft gute Gründe dafür in Erinnerung und geht auf beide Themen ein. Den Schwerpunkt bilden Hinweise zum Gebrauch von Methylphenidat als einer wesentlichen Säule der medikamentösen Behandlung.

Abstract

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in clinical practice is still a relatively new topic in adult psychiatry. The article recalls a number of reasons why diagnosis and treatment are important and expands on both areas with an emphasis on methylphenidate as an essential pillar of pharmacological treatment.
