Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Background
The diabetic foot syndrome is an economically relevant complication of diabetes that significantly affects quality of life, morbidity and mortality of the patient.
Diagnosis
A timely and structured diagnostic workup allows substantially better treatment results concerning wound healing and amputation rates. However, this can only be achieved in a cross-sectoral setting with sufficient communication between the partners (various specialties, professions and sectors). Various structural models can be helpful.
Conclusion
Particularly with regard to the demographic developments and the rising incidence of diabetes, variable solutions must be developed for the present and also the future to ensure satisfactory care of people with diabetes and chronic wound healing disturbances.
