Summary.
The standard Gibbs energies of transfer of anions and cations of amino acids and small peptides across the water nitrobenzene interface were determined with the help of a novel electrochemical technique using three-phase electrodes. This is the first time that reliable data are reported for the anions of amino acids. The main result is that the standard Gibbs energies of transfer of the anion and cation of an amino acid are almost the same.
