Abstract
In clinical practice, patients suffering from generalized stress-induced pain syndromes often report pronounced impairments in everyday activities and demonstrate pronounced interpersonal problems in addition to the pain. Cognitive behavioral therapeutic pain coping programs often yield unsatisfactory result. A specific interactional (disorder-specific) group therapy may help to change these interpersonal problems by reducing the levels of stress and associated pain symptomatology. The background and central strategies of this treatment approach are described.
