A soft switching ZCS–ZVS double two-switch forward converter

This paper proposes a structure based on the association of two two-switch forward converters connected to a single high-frequency transformer, whose operation is analogous to the conventional full-bridge topology. In this case, both transformer and output filter inductor are designed for twice the switching frequency. Each forward converter employs a soft switching cell that allows the operation at high frequency with consequent minimization of switching losses and high efficiency over a wide range of the load power. The effect of the leakage inductances of the transformer in the soft commutation is analyzed, and possible solutions are also presented. The complete mathematical study including analytical results to validate the proposal is carried out.
