Abstract

Gliomatosis cerebri is considered a rare disorder in childhood and adolescence. We report on a 12-year-old boy with clinical signs of a central nervous system affection. The CT scans showed signs of viral encephalitis, however, MRI showed a space occupying lesion. The unspecific clinical signs and findings in CT in cases of gliomatosis cerebri can lead to misdiagnosis. Therapeutic options are limited. It is necessary to inform the parents of the unfavourable prognosis as early as possible.
