Subject

We investigated the influence of the CO2 content of the atmosphere on the elastomechanical features of beech wood. Tests of the longitudinal compression strength and the longitudinal modulus of elasticity in compression were carried out on stem sections of four-year old beech trees from six European provenances. The trees had been cultivated in a green-house for three years, one half at doubled CO2 content, the other half in ambient air for reference.
