Eucalyptus regnans
F. Muell. boards have shown that: (1) for material frozen at −20 °C, for 72 h, the average collapse magnitude was reduced by 36%; (2) the average number of internal checks did not change significantly, although modest check reductions were observed in some highly susceptible boards; (3) no change in the overall drying time to 15% MC was observed in spite of a small increase in drying rate during the early stages of drying. Reasons for the effects of prefreezing on drying are discussed.
