Building wooden panels glued with a combination of natural adhesive of tannin/Eremurus root (syrysh)

Abstract

The possibility of combination of tannin adhesive with natural and renewable adhesive of syrysh (Eremurus root) was investigated. The combination of Mimosa tannin adhesive with syrysh adhesive was considered in six levels. Pressing temperature was 210 °C, pressure was 35 kg/cm2, and pressing time was 7 and 10 min. The highest level of adhesive resistance was obtained for 6 % tannin + 4 % syrysh, 0.89 MPa. By increasing the percentage of the dry weight of the syrysh adhesive, the amount of water absorption and thickness swelling were decreased and reached standard level.
