PUF panel adhesives doped with additional urea and reinforced by isocyanates

Abstract

A commercial phenol-urea-formaldehyde (PUF) resin for exterior particleboard of good performance and relatively high content of urea was cheapened by additions of further urea. The weakening action of this on the internal bond (IB) strength of the board was counterbalanced by addition of much smaller proportions of polymeric diisocyanate (PMDI) to upgrade performance to the original level of the control PUF resin.

Zusammenfassung

Ein kommerzielles PUF- Harz mit relativ hohem Harnstoffgehalt für Spanplatten für Außenverwendung wurde durch Zusätze weiteren Harnstoffes verbilligt. Dem schwächenden Einfluss auf die Querzugsfestigkeit (IB) der Spanplatte wurde entgegengewirkt durch Hinzufügen von wesentlich geringeren Anteilen an polymeren Diisocyanaten, um die Klebeleistung wieder auf das Ausgangsniveau des PUF-Prüfharzes zurückzuführen
