On a rate-type thermomechanical model for shape memory bars. Stress-controlled problems

In this paper we consider an explicit one-dimensional rate-type thermo-viscoelastic model that is capable of describing some aspects of the response of a shape memory alloy. This approach takes into account the dependence of the load-deformation curves on temperature and the heat exchange across the lateral surface of the bar. We study here the hysteretic macroscopic response predicted by this model in the case of stress-controlled problems and relaxation tests.
