Modelling of growth of Corynebacterium glutamicum under biotin limitation

Abstract

 One of the prerequisites for the successful production of L-glutamic acid with Corynebacterium glutamicum is the realization of adequate growth under biotin limiting conditions. The intracellular biotin content, i.e. the specific biotin concentration is shown to be the limiting factor for growth in this fermentation process. Modelling of growth is then examined with logistic models and Monod kinetics. For the description of the lag phase different extensions of kinetics are compared respectively tested and two new mathematical functions suggested for this purpose.
