Abstract

This paper explores the representation of AIDS in culture through narrative structure by focusing upon the critically acclaimed autobiography Borrowed Time: An AIDS Memoir by Paul Monette. The purpose of this study is to examine how poesis and healing represent illness and to reflect upon the negotiation between identity and dominant, cultural images associated with this disease.
